Momentous Selects Mailshell to Provide
Premium Email Service for Dot-name Domains
SANTA CLARA, CA - January 14, 2002 - Momentous.ca,
owner of the leading Canadian domain registrar and the world's
first authorized dot-name registrar, today announced its
selection of Mailshell (http://www.mailshell.com) to provide
email services for its dot-name registrants.
Mailshell provides "Intelligent Email" services for its
registrars, ISPs and email providers, and will create private-labeled
email services for Momentous operating subsidiaries Namescout.com
and Internic.ca. The service will apply to dot-name addresses
such as john@smith.name. Terms were not disclosed.
We chose Mailshell for its advanced email functionality
and experience providing consumer email services," said
Rob Hall, president and CEO of Momentous.ca and subsidiaries
Namescout.com and Internic.ca. "We think that Mailshell's
innovative set of features will attract significantly more
orders than if we offered a standard email service."
In addition to Web-based email accounts with POP and IMAP
access, the companies will add a premium email package for
users who purchase the john.smith.name domain enabling users
to create any five aliases for their domain such as family@john.smith.name
or shopping@john.smith.name.
Premium features including encrypted email, message tracking
that lets users know exactly what date and time their messages
were opened, virus and email bug protection, and increased
storage space for emails so that archived messages won't
be lost or deleted are also available from Mailshell.
"There is an obvious fit between the dot-name domain and
premium personalized email services," said Tonny Yu, president
and CEO of Mailshell. "By bundling many premium email features
into a turnkey package we're able to help companies like
Momentous achieve higher transaction conversion rates and
greater revenue per user than other email services."
Momentous companies Namescout.com and Internic.ca have
been at the forefront of Internet development since the
earliest days. ICANN-accredited Namescout.com, one of the
world's top 50 registrars, was recently accredited as the
world's first registrar for the brand-new dot-name domain,
and has just been provisionally accredited by the Australian
Domain Authority (auDA) as one of Australia's first wave
of new dot-au registrars. Internic.ca was Canada's first
dot-ca accredited registrar and is now Canada's leading
dot-ca registrar. The companies serve customers around the
globe from offices in North America, Australia and the Caribbean,
and are today, they are the world's only registrar group
simultaneously accredited by ICANN, CIRA, auDA and the Global
Name Registry.
Mailshell is the leading provider of Intelligent Email
management services and revenue-generating, private-label
premium email packages. The service was recently dubbed
"priceless" by Forbes magazine and among "the best ways
to organize your email" and "the best ways to stop spam"
by The Wall Street Journal. Mailshell was founded in January
1999. The company is, based in Santa Clara, Calif., with
an additional office in San Francisco.
